Browser-guided calibration observations

This workflow keeps center rest, left and right stick range, and individual trigger sweeps separate. Complete evidence is shown with its sample criteria. Skipped or incomplete stages remain explicitly marked instead of receiving estimated values.

How to calibrate controller inputs

  1. 01

    Confirm every input role

    Choose one controller. Standard mappings must expose every required role; non-standard mappings require explicit raw axis and trigger assignments.

  2. 02

    Hold both sticks at rest

    Leave both sticks untouched for the five-second center window so the browser can collect at least 150 admitted samples.

  3. 03

    Cover each stick range

    Rotate one stick at a time at least twice, covering 65 of 72 angular bins and at least 90 percent of the circle.

  4. 04

    Sweep each trigger

    Begin released below 0.05, press beyond 0.95, and return below 0.05 so the sweep order and value distinctness can be observed.

Calibration limitations

Results reflect Gamepad API values after transport, driver, mapping, operating-system input processing, browser scheduling, and page timing. The page only reads values the browser exposes. A suggested dead zone is a software starting point, not an accuracy certificate.

Troubleshooting calibration

Center rest stays incomplete

Keep the tab active, place the controller on a stable surface, release both sticks before starting, and preserve the same connection and mapping for the full five seconds.

Range coverage misses bins

Move near the outer edge, rotate steadily in one direction at least twice, and visit the diagonal directions as well as the cardinal directions.

Controller calibration questions

Where can I use the suggested dead zone?

Use it only as a starting point in a game or application that already provides its own dead-zone control.

Why are some stages unavailable?

Every required semantic stick and trigger role must be present. The page does not infer missing raw indices on non-standard or incomplete mappings.

What does analog versus digital/discrete mean?

A completed sweep with at least eight distinct values after three-decimal rounding is labeled analog; fewer values are labeled digital/discrete for that observed sweep.

Are calibration samples uploaded?

No. The report is built locally, excludes samples by default, and includes at most 5,000 only after you select the separate opt-in checkbox.
